'I started recording this music sometime around late December 2021. The threat of the world resetting, catching up and accelerating with even greater determination started feeling pretty scary and some feelings of blue started to torment me. I finished it just before I was consumed by the state of the world again. That was around February 2022.'

'A Cry for Help' is an album of rebetiko inspired electronic melancholica by Christos Fanaras following in the lineage of Greek ambient pioneers like Vangelis and Iasos.

Christos is one half of the project Elephant House together with Shenggy Shen having released two albums on Adaadat. He has also released music on his own imprint Down Is Up sometimes under the moniker Jack Shirt. Christos collaborated with M.K. Hauser to create an imagined cinematic soundtrack called Masters both having previously played together in the band Agaskodo Teliverek. Christos currently plays bass guitar in Charlatans lead singer Tim Burgess's band.

A launch party for 'A Cry for Help' is taking place at Servant Jazz Quarters on October 2nd.

"A fantastic collage of everything in the artist's head, all tumbling out and wired-up wrong. This is an album steeped in the experimentalism of Krautrock and really fucked-up folksike, the sorta thing that would get a release in the mid-70s, leaving everyone completely confused, later to become something of a cult classic."
